UPDATE:
Remember Miracle, the orphan foal that was led out of the forest away from her deceased mother? She is doing great! Here she is all ready for Christmas.

Baby Miracle is still in her foster home and they LOVE her!

UPDATE:

Up Date
3 vet visits so far, but she has the will to make it and I believe she will.

Baby is getting a little stronger, she has had a 1/2 selium shot which is helping. She will get another one in 2 1/2 weeks which will help a lot.

Miracle update - Sandy said she is doing much better and actually trotted about 15 feet today! Her ...selenium levels were so incredibly low the vets were surprised she was still on her feet.

She is receiving selenium shots to get her to a normal level.  How this little girl survived on her own standing watch over her dead mother in the forest, alone, for about a week is mind boggling. She is truly a survivor :)

Picture of my little wet miracle baby girl, taken today.  she had a stomach ache so had to give her medicine this morning, I am thinking it might just have been the very cold morning today.  she seems better now.

Our Newest Rescue Baby Miracle

We rescued a new orphan baby filly yesterday. She was just a tiny thing.

I was asked to take the little tiny one found by some folks in Lakeview. She was spotted standing in the woods next to her moms dead body.

Her mom had been eaten by predators. We are not sure what she died of but we know it wasn't good.

Not a Mustang, but just something a rancher or farmer tossed out in the mountains. Sadly, this is happening a lot in that area. There are dozens of domestic horses out there.

I went out and got the little one. She is not at all friendly yet has a BIG attitude for such a small thing. The vet tech stopped by today and said she is maybe 8 to 10 weeks old.

I think we are going to try to put her on a nurse mare. A friend of mine has one in Coburg, Oregon.  Maybe it will work.  Thank goodness for the generosity of friends. We need so much help with this. Please consider clicking the donate button to the right to help us.

The little one, we are calling Miracle, as it was a miracle that she was not eaten by any predators is only about 3 feet tall and looks to be a pony or a pony cross.  She's cuter then heck.

Miracle was alone in the woods for at least 3 weeks that we know of from first time of being spotted until Sunday when we rescued her.

Baby Miracle has had a hard couple days; 2 emergency vet visits and definitely NOT out of the woods. She coliced all day on Thursday and couldn't poop. Now Miracle is pooping, but almost liquid.

Her stomach is so messed up from not eating and drinking up in the woods.  It has taken it's toll on her. We had blood work done. It came back real strange.

We are doing this one day at a time right now. The vet guessed her to be between 8 and 12 weeks old.   She is a pony baby as far as we can tell. A tough little girl but only time will tell if she will pull through or not. Donations are desperately needed.
